Registered apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training (OJT) and related classroom instruction (RSI) under the supervision of a journey-level craft person or trade professional in which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation. For an ACTiV apprentice that means the apprentice will receive training and mentorship from experts in the field of software development and the opportunity to put those newly learned skills into practice contributing to real software projects.
ACTiV is a response to a group of software development and consulting companies seeking highly qualified and passionate candidates. ACTiV’s employer partners (AKA: Training Agents) are CodeSmart, PeopleTech Group, Ramp Group, and AirNote. The Committee that oversees the ACTiV Apprenticeship is comprised of Owners, Managers and Employees from these employer partners.
Anyone with proven passion for writing software and interest in pursuing software development as a career.
As a software development apprentice, you will learn a wide variety of skills aimed towards preparing you for a career in software development. The skills and technologies you’ll learn are covered in ACTiV’s RSI (Related Supplemental Instruction). The RSI is used in conjunction with your on the job training to lay a solid foundation with which to build your software development career.
